How QR codes are revolutionising photo sharing at events

If you’re about to get married or are organising any other big event, you may well have a photographer lined up. But you might also be looking at other ways of collecting and sharing images so that you don’t miss a moment of the day, and so that you capture and can relive all those spontaneous moments of joy among your guests or delegates. At the same time, photo sharing encourages a community feel among people at an event, while meaning you can keep enjoying it long after the occasion itself is over.

After all, no matter how great your photographer is, they can only be in one place at once! Equally, you may be keen to see, post or otherwise use pictures of the big day while you await the ‘official’ gallery.

Yet finding straightforward ways of photo sharing isn’t quite as easy as you might have thought, and some of the more common methods for doing this throw up more challenges than you may have realised.

For example, none of the choices which may spring most readily to mind is designed specifically for event sharing or has a beautiful look that suits the elegance of the occasion. Additionally, a few of the available options throw up considerable privacy concerns, especially when people post pictures randomly across multiple platforms. This can detract from the pleasurable experience photo sharing should be.

Six Different Ways To Share Photos

  • Social media: This can get a little all over the place, not least given the sheer number of available platforms. And, of course, not everyone has accounts on the same ones. So it can be easy to feel as though you have no control – what’s more, many of these platforms are very public.
  • WhatsApp or similar tools: These may seem a viable option, but they store photos in relatively low resolution and, again, everyone needs an account with the platform in question to access the images.
  • Apple albums: Yet again, this won’t reach everybody as all your guests will need an Apple device if you are to make this idea work.
  • A shared cloud drive: This is another thing you may have considered. But everyone in attendance will need a log-in, and not everyone may want this. People have so many passwords and online accounts that it’s easy to feel ‘log-in fatigue’ and reluctance to sign up for yet another platform.
  • USB sticks: These days, USB sticks may seem slightly old-fashioned. And if you’re considering using them, you could find them hard to keep track of. Additionally, it may not be easy for everyone to see all the images if people have pictures on different USB sticks.
  • Chat and email: Threads on these kinds of tools can quickly become cumbersome, plus you may find some guests miss out on some of the photos.

QR Code Photo Sharing Platforms Can Make This Easier

But there is an alternative from EventsAlbum, sharing photos with a QR code. Our QR event code allow those attending a wedding, birthday party, corporate event or any other celebration to upload images via a single link, securely and in real time. There are no log-ins, apps to download or passwords, guests just simply scan a QR code and share the pictures they’ve taken.

You can then show all the images via a rolling live gallery the minute guests start uploading them, making the whole thing really interactive. Approve images before displaying them if you wish.

After your event all the photos can be downloaded as high resolution pictures making them ideal to print. There’s no compromise on quality; the image will look exactly as it did when it was taken. Finally, we offer unlimited storage for a year, allowing you to download any or all of them at any point during that time.
